May Boxycharm Box

Today I’d like to share with you my new absolute favorite beauty subscription!
I have tried many beauty subscriptions in the past, but this is the one that I have found to be the best value and most useful products.

If you aren’t familiar with Boxycharm (which I wasn’t until recently), Boxycharm is a beauty subscription service where they send you a monthly box to your home and you receive 4-5 full-size beauty products a month.  If you go on a month-to-month subscription, you will be paying $21 dollars a month, but most every box that I have received has been of $100-$130 dollar value.
The price varies depending on whether you go month-to-month, every 3 months, every 6 months, or every year.  You can find more information about the subscription options here.

From what I’ve seen, everyone seems to receive the same items in their box (which is different from Birchbox and Ipsy), but they may have differing color variations of a product, like for instance, not all of us received the same blush color this month.

This is what the box you will receive looks like!

For this month, I was SUPER excited to see a “sneak peek” from Boxycharm’s Instagram account here that we would receive a brand new, unreleased blush product from Makeup Geek in the new packaging!  This is the second month that we have received products from Makeup Geek.  I honestly consider it to be one of my absolute favorite, affordable brands, and we received two eye shadows in a previous box!

So – since I’m talking about Makeup Geek – let me go ahead and start out with the first thing that I grabbed out of the box, which was the blush!

These blushes are set to launch June 1st of this year, so we got our hands on them early!

This new packaging is so awesome!  I love the gunmetal rose-gold color on the outside, and
I also love the fact that there’s a mirror in every single blush compact now.
Also, it’s got a magnetic closure, so that works perfect.
I believe these new blushes are going to retail for $15 each, which is a little steeper than her depotted pans she had before.  I haven’t heard yet whether the depotted pans will still be available, or if new blushes will only be available in this type of packaging from now on.

I received the color XOXO.  To be honest – when I first opened the package, I was a little intimidated by the bright color, but I really think that it will go well with my skin tone.  My initial swatch looked great, so I can’t wait to play and see how this looks!

If you’re interested in trying other Makeup Geek products, here’s a recent post that I did featuring my favorite every day shadows and blushes!

The next item that drew my attention was this nail polish from ella + mila.  I have never heard of this brand before, so that’s why I love getting beauty subscription boxes because you always get exposed to new brands and products!

I am not sure whether we all received the same color of nail polish or not, but I received the color Pistache, which is a light minty green color – similar to that of a pistachio?
I’m assuming from the name?  By the way – who gets the fancy job of
coming up with names for nail polishes?  I think I’d like that job!

Another product that I was excited to see this month was this brow gel from The BrowGal!

I have been wanting to purchase some clear brow gel for quite some time now, and I’ve had my eye on one from Anastasia Beverly Hills, but I find myself sometimes too frugal to purchase something that isn’t TOTALLY necessary like brow gel.
Since it was included in the box, I am super excited to try it out and see how it goes!  Sometimes my brows can get quite a bit crazy, so I think this will help tame them on those crazy days!

Also included in the box was this dual ended eyeliner from Pur Cosmetics.

I have been hearing a lot of talk about Pur Cosmetics lately while watching some of my favorite YouTube channels, so I was excited to see this brand in our box this month.
I have to be honest – I am not thrilled by this color.  I was kind of hoping that I would get something
a little more neutral like a chocolate brown, or a black.  But, this is what I ended up
with, so I’ll make the best of it.  I honestly cannot see myself using the liquid end of this because it’s
a super bright teal/emerald color.  I think the pencil color will actually work really well with
my super dark eyes, but I’ll just have to play with it and see how it works!

Another item we received in our boxes this month was this lip liner from Starlooks.
It looks like the brand Starlooks did a collaboration with Boxycharm for this month, and
the color we received is called Charmed.

I’m really not sure how I feel about this color for lip liner yet.  To me, the color comes off on my
skin tone a little too orange for my taste, but I think that if I mix it in with a different color lipstick
that it will look fine!

And finally – a “freebie” that we received this month is this perfume from
Catherine Malandrino.

As I said in my earlier Ipsy bag post this month, I am NOT a fan of receiving perfumes in our boxes.
I did not like the way this smelled at all, and it honestly went straight in the trash.  There’s something
about a super peppery, musky smell that bothers my lungs for some reason, so I always
find myself going after the clean, floral scents.

If there’s one positive to receiving this perfume – this doesn’t count for one of our samples
(as we still received 5 others for this month) so it doesn’t make me as aggravated to receive
one.  Ipsy disappointed me last month by counting a small perfume sample as one of our items.

Ok – I will stop rambling now – hah!
I really think that you should try Boxycharm!
I have not been disappointed yet by the items that I have received.
Are there other beauty subscriptions you’d like to see me try and review?
If so, leave them below in the comments section, or tweet me!

Have a great Wednesday!
