May Ipsy Bag

May Ipsy Bag

Today I’d like to share with you the items that I received in my May Ipsy bag!
I always look forward to the middle of the month because that’s usually when I receive my
beauty subscriptions!

If you aren’t familiar with the Ipsy subscription, here’s a little explanation.

You get 4-5 deluxe sample sizes a month in a cute reusable bag (as pictured above) for $10 + tax!
There are months where you may luck up and receive a full size beauty product.
When you sign up, you will complete a quiz that asks you what types of brands you’re familiar with, what you’re interested in, skin tone, eyes, hair color, etc.
Around the 10th of every month, the bags start shipping out (shipping is free in the US by the way).
The bags come in a pretty hot pink foil bubble envelope.
Not everyone gets the same items or colors in their bags, but it seems to equal the same amount across the board.

For this months bag, I was super excited because we had the change to get a GlamGlow product.
I’ve never tried any of the Glam Glow products before, but they are super pricey, so the only
way I will try it is to get a sample.  Sadly, I wasn’t one of the lucky ones!
This month, I wasn’t very impressed with my bag to be honest.  Ipsy can honestly be hit or miss for me, and this month was a miss…but, I’d still like to show you what I got!
Also, please keep in mind, just because I personally did not care for something doesn’t mean that it isn’t a great product, or that I am being negative – everyone is different.  We all have different skin types, skin needs, skin colors, etc., and we all have different tastes!

The first thing that I saw when I opened my bag was this Hanalei lip treatment.

This was a deluxe sample size.  I have tried this, and so far, I am liking it.
It does feel a little greasy, but seems to be very nourishing!

Hanalei’s Lip Treatment uses pure kukui oil (a nut oil), which is known to moisturize and rejuvenate dry lips. Agave and grape seed oil provide high levels of anti-oxidants that help sooth and protect lips.
One thing that I don’t think is wise is that this item contains nut products.  For someone that has a nut allergy, this could be lethal and I honestly don’t think it’s smart for Ipsy to include
products with ingredients containing nuts like these; however, that’s just my own personal opinion.
So…if you have a nut allergy, then you definitely want to stay away from this product!

The next item in my bag was this Glamour Dolls Blending Brush #10

This is obviously a full-sized product.  I always love receiving new makeup brushes in my beauty subscriptions!  I always love trying out new brushes, and you never know when you find a great one that you can’t live without like I did with the Luxie Short Shader I received in this bag!
This brush retails for $4 dollars, so if it happens to be a great one, then I may look into buying more
from this brand!

The next product in the bag was this Etat Libre d’Orange Remarkable People perfume sample

I am not a fan of getting perfume samples in my beauty subscriptions.  I am super particular when
it comes to perfumes, and it takes me a while to find something that I like.  This is
not my favorite, and I honestly don’t consider this a “deluxe sample” when I can easily walk into
Belk or Nordstrom and ask for a sample myself.

The next item in my bag is this Hikari Shimmer Bronzer

When I saw this, I was excited to try this bronzer!  My initial swatch was super shimmery
and glittery, which too much can be a bad thing (WHAT?!  Did I really just say that?  Shimmer too much of a bad thing?).  Too much shimmer on the face can accentuate any texture or pores that you have on your face, and can actually draw attention to them.  I am going to use this product some and see how it goes.  This does appear to be a full-sized product.  It retails for $17 dollars, so that’s already exceeded the cost of the bag just with this one product.

The final item that I received in my bag is this Smashbox X-Rated Mascara sample

I always love getting mascara samples!  These are the perfect size for travel, and it’s always nice to try out new mascara to see if there’s one better than the other!  I have a few favorites, so I will be excited to try this one out and see if it lives up to, or exceeds my expectations.  This is supposed to build lots of volume and extend the length of your lashes!

I also have a new mascara on the way from Mary Kay that’s supposed to be a “game changer”!
I can’t wait to try it out and let you all know my thoughts!

That’s all that I received in my May Ipsy bag.  I will have a new post up next week of an “unboxing” of my BoxyCharm subscription that I’m waiting to get in the mail!

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!
