Our Engagement Story

I am sorry for the brevity of this post, but my wi-fi is having issues today!

So, I’d like to share a quick post regarding our engagement story, and wishing my husband
a happy 7 months today, and in a few days, happy 9 years of putting up with my crap!

We met each other a long time ago at Western Carolina University because we had a few mutual acquaintances…but sadly, we lost contact shortly thereafter.

Then there came this invention called Myspace (yes, insert eye roll here – and yes, we’re old) and we found each other through there!  We talked casually through there for a few months, and then realized that we lived only right down the road from one another while I was at UNCC.  Our first date, of sorts, was April 5th, 2007.  We made our relationship official in late May of 2007, and have been pretty much inseparable ever since.

Nick proposed on a Sunday morning, October 26th to be exact, in a beautiful park in Tennessee called the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail.  I always love to get out of the car and take pictures, and this was my favorite place because you are pretty high up, and you can see the gorgeous colors well from here.

We kept walking to a remote part of the “lookout”, and I turned around and Nick had pulled the ring out of his pocket.  He looked at me and said “Umm…I have this….um yes?”.  No getting down on one knee…no nothing.  I died laughing (well, after I said yes, of course)!  I thought he was just being silly so I told him “Do it the right way” (being the obvious control freak that I am), so he did.  I found out later that he was so nervous that he couldn’t get the words out – which I find humorous because there would be many days he would always joke around with me and say the silliest things jokingly getting down on one knee.

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday – I hope to have a better wi-fi connection tomorrow!
